Job Summary:
Operate, monitor, and maintain heavy construction plant equipment on civil construction projects. Ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation of equipment such as crushing plants, batch plants, asphalt plants, and other production systems supporting heavy civil construction operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor plant equipment used in heavy civil construction, including crushing, screening, batching, or asphalt production systems
- Perform daily equipment inspections to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Adjust plant settings to meet production targets and quality specifications
- Coordinate with supervisors, foremen, and crews to support project production needs
- Troubleshoot operational issues and report mechanical or system failures
- Assist with routine maintenance, lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs
- Maintain accurate production logs, equipment reports, and safety documentation
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and company standards
- Support startup, shutdown, and relocation of plant equipment as required
- Complete other assignments as assigned by your direct supervisor
- Maintain an insurable driving record
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience operating plant equipment in heavy civil construction
- Experience with crushing, screening, asphalt, concrete batch plants, or similar systems
- Strong understanding of construction materials, aggregates, and production processes
- Ability to read and follow production schedules, specifications, and safety procedures
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required (technical training preferred)
- Must be willing and able to travel to various job sites
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75–100 lbs. as needed
- Frequent bending, standing, climbing, and physical labor
- Work performed in outdoor environments with exposure to dust, noise, heat, and cold
- Ability to safely operate heavy equipment and work around moving machinery
