Job Title: Utilities Field Engineer (0–2 Years Experience)
Job Summary
Support utility coordination and relocation efforts on large, complex heavy civil construction projects. The Utilities Field Engineer assists with the identification, documentation, and resolution of utility conflicts; coordinates with utility owners and field teams; and ensures that work complies with project requirements, safety standards, and company values.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and promote the company’s vision and core values in all work activities.
- Support the utility coordination and relocation process by assisting with documentation, scheduling, and communication between internal project teams and external utility owners.
- Track utility relocation progress and integrate updates into the overall project schedule under supervision.
- Participate in preconstruction planning, design reviews, and constructability discussions related to utility impacts.
- Assist with interpreting utility plans, identifying potential conflicts, and helping develop field solutions.
- Prepare and maintain records, utility logs, and as-built documentation.
- Support compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality control requirements.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with utility representatives, engineers, and field personnel.
- Perform field inspections and verification of utility locations and clearances.
- Learn and apply company procedures, engineering standards, and construction methods for roadway, bridge, and underground work.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field required.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience in construction, engineering, or utility coordination preferred.
- Experience with highway or design-build projects is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic understanding of civil construction principles, utility systems (water, sewer, power, gas, communications), and construction drawings.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in both office and field environments.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to learning and continuous improvement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and basic scheduling software (e.g., Primavera or MS Project).
