We are looking for a detail-oriented Heavy Civil Estimator to join our estimating team. This role is critical in preparing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive cost estimates for a variety of heavy civil construction projects. You will collaborate with project managers, field leaders, and subcontractors, applying your technical expertise and industry knowledge to build reliable budgets that set our projects up for success.
Prepare Estimates: Analyze drawings, specifications, and contracts to develop detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
Earthwork Takeoffs & 3D Modeling: Perform accurate earthwork takeoffs and use 3D modeling tools to quantify materials, evaluate site conditions, and support project planning.
Leverage Technology: Use construction estimating software (HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and preferably Trimble Business Center) to build precise cost models and projections.
Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to refine budgets and align cost strategies with project goals.
Site Assessments: Conduct jobsite visits to evaluate conditions, verify quantities, and adjust estimates as needed.
Vendor & Subcontractor Relations: Solicit and negotiate pricing to secure competitive bids and favorable terms.
Contract Review: Interpret contract documents to confirm compliance with project requirements and cost structures.
Data Management: Maintain accurate records of estimates, historical pricing, and cost data to support forecasting and continuous improvement.
Experience: Minimum of 2+ years in construction estimating, with a strong background in heavy civil or infrastructure projects.
Earthwork & Modeling Skills: Demonstrated experience in earthwork takeoffs and 3D modeling required.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with HeavyBid and Bluebeam required; experience with Trimble Business Center strongly preferred.
Knowledge: Solid understanding of construction management, cost control, and industry best practices.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
Communication: Strong analytical, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate, timely estimates under deadlines.
