Overview

 Concrete Finisher

Wage: $30-$38

Description 

The Concrete Finisher smooths and finishes freshly poured concrete and applies surface treatments to various concrete structures such as floors, sidewalks, curbing, and roads. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float. 
  • Read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities. 
  • Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed. 
  • Set concrete forms. 
  • Clean and prepare construction site to eliminate possible hazards. 
  • Direct the casting of the concrete with the truck driver.  
  • Cut expansion joints using joiners and edging tools. 
  • Patch existing surfaces. 
  • Monitor the curing of concrete to ensure a high-quality finish. 
  • Maintain safe work environment. 
  • Other Duties as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Safety conscious and ability to follow verbal and written instructions. 
  • Ability to work long hours. 
  • Concrete finishing skills. 

Education and Certificates 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. repetitively.  
  • Frequent bending, standing, lifting and ongoing physical activity. 
  • Regular exposure to outdoor elemen
