Quality Control Technician
Location: Gunnison, UT (with travel within UT, AZ, and CO)
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Quality Control Manager, the Quality Control Technician is primarily responsible for product quality and providing technical assistance and training for customers and employees.
Job Description:
Support WW Clyde project teams and crews in UT, AZ, and CO through testing construction materials in the field and laboratory in accordance with DOT, ASTM, and AASHTO standards. Testing certifications through ACI, WAQTC, and CAPA is a plus, although Company will train and afford opportunities for certifications.
Responsibilities:
- Perform quality control testing and inspection activities on assigned project and functional areas to ensure that products and services are in accordance with project requirements.
- Regularly interacts with other employees and representatives from a variety of functional groups, suppliers, subcontractors and customers on project.
- Implements and records inspection and testing procedures, including preparation and set-up of related equipment, and evaluates the validity and acceptability of the inspection and testing results.
- Visualize, define, plan, communicate, and implement the company vision and core values.
- Assist in implementation of material sampling and collection of samples for quality control.
- Provide in-house testing of ready mixed concrete, soils and Hot mix asphalt for internal operations .
- Assist in research and development of new products.
- Monitor construction activities including technical, supervision, quality control and trouble shooting problems.
- Provide technical training for employees and customers.
- Review and interpret specifications.
- Provide data entry and review of statistical information for future decision analysis.
- Assist in customer service through job site visits, office visits, and pre-construction meetings.
- Advise project teams of any quality control situations outside of scope of ability.
- Update technical library and quality control manuals.
- Accumulate data that will provide statistical information for future decision analysis.
- Make job site decisions concerning production and quality control in the field.
- Maintain insurable driving record.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements.
Qualifications:
- Applicant may be required to work on remote projects in Utah, Arizona, Colorado and neighboring states; work under rigorous conditions long hours and 6 to 7 days a week at times.
- Good communication skills are required and an ability to focus on tasks at hand, be a self-motivator, and to work well with others.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- ACI Field Grade I Certification (a plus)
- WAQTC Certifications (a plus)
- Construction experience, preferably paving or heavy/highway construction experience.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
