The Equipment Operator is responsible for the efficient operation of various types of heavy equipment while adhering to company operational and safety standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment productively, efficiently, and in accordance with company operational and safety standards.
- Service and clean equipment as needed in accordance with best practice and operating procedures.
- Grease, oil, and perform minor equipment repairs and maintenance using grease gun, oil cans, and other various hand tools.
- Assist with plant maintenance and operations.
- Perform routine pre-inspections and post-inspections to ensure proper performance of equipment.
- Maintain necessary equipment logs and inform supervisor of deficiencies.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness of job sites and work areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- RCP, Sanitary, Water and steel utilities
- Strong working knowledge regarding the operation, safety, and maintenance of equipment in use.
- Ability to safely operate equipment in the presence of field crew members, ensuring safety of all persons, equipment, property, and utilities in the area.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to promote and work in a team environment.
- Ability to achieve performance objectives in a time-sensitive and quality centered environment.
- Demonstrates initiative and reliability with minimal supervision.
Education and Certificates
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Valid driver’s license and clean MVR.
- At least 1 year of experience running equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Heavy: exerting up to 50 pounds of force regularly.
- Ongoing equipment operation over extended periods of time.
- Frequent bending, standing, lifting, and ongoing physical activity.
- Outdoor working conditions, often in extreme climates.
